Course Content

Module 1: Intro & The What
This is an introduction to the course as well as going into the teaching of "The What" of the Story. Plot is a key ingredient of a great narrative. You will go step by step into how to build and establish a plot.

  • An Introduction of The 5 Elements of a Story
    04:13
  • PLOT (An Introduction)
    02:48
  • Plot Structure
    05:56
  • Cause & Effect
    03:05

Module 2: The Who
Characters are, if not the most important element of a story, they are definitely one of the most important. You will learn how to flesh out a character and the different components that make up a good character.

Module 3: The When & Where
Just as the plot and characters are important to a story, the environment that surrounds them is just as important. However, it's not just saying the time of day and the location, it's also painting the picture so the reader will see and feel, at least in their minds, what's driving and moving around the plot and characters.

Module 4: The How
You can give three writers the same plot points and the same characters, but all of them will write the story in totally different ways. You will learn elements of style and voice to understand tools in which an author could use to tell their story in their own way.

Module 5: (Bonus) Manuscript Structure/Recap
There are a few loose ends that a writer must be sure not to neglect. I will briefly give some tips and tools that will save time and money. These are concepts like tense shifts, POV switches (head-hopping), establishing scenes, and more.
