T. Dawn Gatling Coates transformed her childhood reading comprehension challenges into a passion for storytelling. Despite a learning disability that wasn’t diagnosed until college, she persevered to earn a BFA in Professional Theatre from North Carolina A&T State University and an MFA in Film & Video Production from the Savannah College of Art & Design.

She works as a freelance writer, video editor, and writing coach in Cumming, Georgia. Through her books, she hopes to inspire children to overcome obstacles and believe in the power of family, however it forms. She is the founder of Break of Dawn Ink and Scribe Academy.
